Cantina is a free, non-commercial fan project. This page lists everything it stores about you, who it shares with, and how to get it deleted. If anything below is unclear, email contact@cantina.cards.
What we store
- Account. A user ID from Clerk (our sign-in provider), the display name you choose, an optional avatar URL, your win/loss/games-played counts, and the time your account was created.
- Friend graph. Pending and accepted friend requests between accounts.
- Game data. Games you play, including the full game state, an event-by-event log, per-turn undo snapshots, and rematch handshakes. Retained indefinitely so games and stats stay viewable.
- Chat messages. Messages you send in in-game chat are stored indefinitely. Other players in the same game can read them. Site administrators can read chat for moderation.
- Feedback. When you submit feedback, we store your message plus the URL you were on, your browser's user-agent string, and (for in-game feedback) a frozen snapshot of the current game state and recent events. This helps reproduce bugs.
What we don't store
- Your password — sign-in is handled by Clerk, which stores the hashed credential. Cantina never receives your password in plaintext.
- Payment information — Cantina is free.
- Anything from advertising or marketing trackers — we don't use any.
Who else sees your data
- Other users. Your display name is searchable by any signed-in user (so people can send friend requests and invites). Opponents and friends see your display name, avatar, and stats. Opponents see your in-game chat messages.
- Clerk — handles authentication. See their privacy policy.
- Convex — hosts the database and runs the game server. See their privacy policy.
- Vercel — hosts the website and provides aggregated, cookie-less analytics (page views, no personal data). See their privacy policy.
We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it outside of these processors.
Cookies
We use a session cookie set by Clerk to keep you signed in. That's it — no advertising or tracking cookies.
Deletion and your rights
To see, correct, or delete your data, email contact@cantina.cards. Account deletion removes your user row, friend links, lobbies, invites, chat messages, and feedback. Game records you participated in may be retained in anonymized form so opponents keep their own match history.
Age
Cantina is intended for users aged 18 and over. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, email contact@cantina.cards and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page will change. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
